PRESS RELEASE

Government is highly concerned about the various reported border incursions and the closure of the main Guinea-Sierra Leone land border that is impeding commerce and the free movement of persons between the two countries.

Government is taking all necessary steps to resolve this situation amicably and permanently. To that end, His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio is dispatching a high-powered delegation to the Republica of Guinea for further discussions with the Government of his Guinean counterpart, President Alpha Conde.

We assure all citizens that Government is fully committed in its responsibility to protect and maintain the territorial integrity of Sierra Leone and also protect the lives and livelihoods of its citizens.

The public will be updated on the outcome of the Government’s engagements with the Guinean Government.
